When: March 11, 2023 2:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
We have an exciting meeting in March -- special time and special place! Together with the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing (Titusville, NJ), we welcome State Senator Shirley Turner. A long time advocate of election reform, Sen. Turner's topic will be "My legislative record: Reducing election costs and Assuring elected officials are approved by the majority of voters."
Two of the Senator's current bills make the case: "Ending the County Line for NJ's primaries" (S3546) and the "Municipal and School Board Voting Options Act" (S3369). The first opens New Jersey's primary ballots to all qualified candidates, ending so-called 'ballot Siberia' for those who don't get the county nod. The second is New Jersey's bottom-up way to bring Ranked-Choice Voting to our towns and cities.
Now, our job is to show support for Sen. Turner's legislation and get behind these reforms. Here are your options:
