Subject: Please support ranked-choice voting: S1643/A1745 and S1625/A2706
Dear Atlantic County Democratic Committee,My name is [Your name] and I am a registered Democratic voter in Atlantic County. I'm writing to ask that you support S1643/A1745 and S1625/A2706.
The Municipal and School Board Voting Options Act (S1643/A1745) would enable local officials and voters to use ranked-choice voting for local elections. Additional ranked-choice voting enabling legislation (S1625/A2706) would allow ranked-choice voting in additional elections, including our primary elections.
Ranked-choice voting (RCV) improves the voter experience, reduces toxic partisanship and the need for strategic voting, and ensures that the majority of voters are represented by the winning candidate. This would also ensure the candidate who wins knows how to build a coalition and feels they have the backing of a majority of voters in their district to work on their priorities.
As a constituent who strongly supports RCV, I urge you to support ranked-choice voting for local and primary elections. In this time of reduced trust in government and elected officials, I believe the party that pushes for RCV will demonstrate faith in voters and continue our experiment in self-government.
Thank you,
[Your name]
