We’re ringing in the new year with an exciting new development: our bill to enable RCV usage at the local level, AKA the “Municipal and School Board Voting Options Act” (S3369 / A5039) has officially been introduced in the NJ Legislature!

Voter Choice NJ launched our strategic plan for winning RCV in NJ back in 2021, and we’ve been working ever since to get this local RCV enabling legislation introduced. With great partnership from State Senator Andrew Zwicker, and support from fellow bill sponsors Senator Linda Greenstein and Assemblyman Dan Benson, that bill is now a reality. This is a critical benchmark for the RCV movement in NJ, but there’s a lot more work to be done: getting a bill hearing in legislative committees, educating legislators across the state about the benefits of RCV, and building a groundswell of support among local elected officials and the public to get legislative leadership to bring the bill to a vote.
